In August, we hosted an indoor community shin-dig at The Placer called the Beat the Heat Philosophy Party. We had a blast and enjoyed great grub & grog, fun games, wonderful dialogue, dancing to good tunes & more!
In addition, to ping-pong (and other games), our party showcased two great Helena-area musicians: Dan Henry & DJ On!x. Dan Henry — Montana singer, songwriter, and musician extraordinaire — rocked the party as our featured one-man band acoustic artist and wowed party-goers with original music topped with a healthy heaping of soul. Also on the party scene…DJ On!x who helped us beat the heat by playing chill lounge music and groovy tunes throughout the night!
Also part of the party mix…philosophy presentations. The first presentation featured Founder & Executive Director of Merlin CCC, Marisa Diaz-Waian, who explored the topic of philosophy — namely, what it is, what it isn’t & why it matters. The second presentation featured Carroll College Adjunct Philosophy Instructor & Mindfulness Practitioner, Justin Whitaker, who shared his knowledge about Buddhism (and great sense of humor).
Our aim for the eve…a place for the community to gather, have fun, dance, enjoy good food & music and, of course, share ideas! Mission accomplished and looking forward hosting another philosophy community gathering!
Many thanks to all of the wonderful community members who came to our party and participated in the fun! Thank you also to Cindy Hanson of The Herb & Garden for providing beautiful flower arrangements and to Steven & Martin (of Martin’s Wines) and Charity Christofferson for all of your help (and wonderful energy)!
