What Our APA Berry Fund for Public Philosophy Grant Helped Fund in the Helena Community in 2019
Grant awards are so important to the success and longevity of non-profits. We are grateful by the support shown to us in 2019 by the American Philosophical Association Berry Fund for Public Philosophy! Because of their $1,000 award, we were able to offer several unique philosophy in the community activities to the Helena (and surrounding) communities in the Spring & Summer. Check out what their grant helped fund!

Philosophy Workshop: Thinking Ecologically About Virtue & Value (Fall 2019)
For many philosophers, scientists, and ordinary people, “species” are not only descriptive categories of how things are, but ideal models for how things should be. In this workshop, led by David Nowakowski, we took a whirlwind tour of “species” from antiquity to the present, in order to better understand the hidden assumptions behind our own thinking today…and what thinking ecologically might tell us about virtue & value. September 2019 Philosophy Walk: Virtue & Excellence — From Ecology to Ethics
We had a delightful time on our September Philosophy Walk. Our group of 9 — technically, 10 counting our furry four-legged companion named Bella (and Beast) — enjoyed a splendid hike on Mount Ascension. Led by David Nowakowski, our group enjoyed a delightful conversation about the principles of ecology…and what sorts of things it might be able to teach us about how to flourish and thrive. September 2019 Philosophy Think & Drink (Helena)
Our September Think & Drink took place in a different watering hole than the norm. Organized and hosted by Barry & Louise Ferst, this month we opted for an outdoor space and met in their garden on Holter Street. Inspired by the surroundings of our environs we first looked at Epicureanism and what, according to it, the good life might consist of. It was not long after that that our conversation expanded outward and touched down on several other areas of exploration. Check out what we explored & photos here!
September 2019 Montana Internet: Team Philosophy Walk
We had such a wonderful time with the Montana Internet Team! Not only were we gifted with spectacular weather by Mother Nature, we also got to enjoy talking and spending time with an inspiring and lovely group of people! Led by David Nowakowski, our group enjoyed a delightful conversation about the principles of ecology…and what sorts of things it might be able to teach us about how to flourish and thrive in both our personal lives and the workplace.
