This 2½-hour workshop introduced key concepts and arguments from the philosophical traditions of India. Our goals were to dispel some common misconceptions about Indian philosophy and religion, to distinguish different Indian philosophical schools from one another, and to develop a deeper understanding of these rich and varied traditions.

During the Fall session, our group first watched a series of selected short films & Twilight Zone episodes, followed by youth-led, facilitated classroom discussions. Young thinkers were asked to identify, reflect and respond to various philosophical elements and themes present in the films, as well as make comparisons to experiences in their own communities and lives. Later in the Fall session, we began a series of story creation endeavors inspired by our classroom discussions and a little game we called “And the Moral of the Story Is…” . We had a great time on our first Philosophy Read-In bi-monthly gatherings. Facilitated by David Nowakowski, we started off this new community activity with two of the best-known Greek philosophers: Plato and Socrates. Access resources here!

Woot-woot! We had such a great time on our annual Halloween Hayride Philosophy Walk! At the insistence of Mother Nature, this year’s outing was bumped to the first weekend of November (due to the weather). But…what a difference a week makes. Our weather was spectacular! Led by our guest storytellers & space travelers for the day, our crew of young philosophers headed off for a fun-filled day of stories, science & art inspired activities, and nature exploration.
