Grant awards are so important to the success and longevity of non-profits. We are grateful by the support shown to us in 2019 by the American Philosophical Association Berry Fund for Public Philosophy! Because of their $1,000 award, we were able to offer several unique philosophy in the community activities to Helena (and surrounding) communities in the Spring & Summer aimed at:
- Sparking & encouraging the exchange of ideas
- Promoting critical, creative thought and reflection
- Cultivating “philosophical sensitivity”
- Nurturing & Contributing to a sense of imagination and wonder
- Reconnecting with nature

The American Philosophical Association was “founded in 1900 to promote the exchange of ideas among philosophers, to encourage creative and scholarly activity in philosophy, to facilitate the professional work and teaching of philosophers, and to represent philosophy as a discipline.” Their mission concerns promoting “the discipline and profession of philosophy, both within the academy and in the public arena” and their principal activities include: scholarship, teaching, career development, and advocacy. The Berry Fund for Public Philosophy “supports the work of the APA committee on public philosophy, whose goal is to find and create opportunities to demonstrate the personal value and social usefulness of philosophy.” Thank you so much to the American Philosophical Association and the Berry Fund for Public Philosophy!
