PLATO (Philosophy Learning & Teaching Organization) is an amazing organization that advocates and supports introducing philosophy to children and youth through programs, resource-sharing, and the development of a national network in pre-college philosophy.
Recognizing the importance of greater access to philosophy for all adults, youth, and children, as well as the scarcity of funds available for philosophy programs, PLATO created the PLATO Philosophy Fund (PPF), which provides funding for a wide range of innovative philosophy programs with the aim of broadening philosophy’s reach. The expectation is that many of these programs will take place in public and other non-traditional settings.
We are thrilled to announce that our organization has received our very FIRST GRANT! Thank you so much to PLATO for believing in our vision and awarding us $5,000 for our Philosophy in the Community Program(s). Your grant will help us support philosophy in the Helena & surrounding areas for Youth, Adults & Elders!
2017 was the first year that applications were being considered and awards (ranging from $100 to $5,000) disseminated to selected organizations. We are honored to have been selected by such a prestigious organization and are looking forward to providing the Helena & surrounding communities with innovative philosophy programs aimed at promoting critical, creative thought, promoting leadership & action, reconnecting with nature, and strengthening, fostering & building community. Thank you so much, PLATO!
