We are beyond elated to announce that our organization has been awarded a $5,000 grant for our 2018-2019 Philosophy Symposium-Walk Series “The Environment, Ethics & Conservation Stewardship” from Humanities Montana. Humanities Montana is an independent, nonprofit affiliate organization of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) that provides support for educational and cultural public programs throughout the state.
Thank you so much to Humanities Montana for helping support our philosophy in the community programs by awarding us a $5,000 grant toward our 2018-2019 Philosophy Symposium-Walk Series “The Environment, Ethics & Conservation Stewardship.”
As a humanities organization, they believe in the capacity of history, literature, philosophy, religious studies, and more to stimulate reflection, create knowledge, resolve problems, and inspire delight. They provide and support numerous public programs that encourage critical thinking, examine civic issues and other issues of concern, and deepen our understanding of where we’ve been, where we are, and where we’re going. Their mission is to enrich the lives of all Montanans by fostering inquiry and stimulating civil and informed conversations about the human experience.
We are honored to have been selected as an award recipient and are looking forward to providing Helena & the surrounding communities (as well as those who might be visiting from out of state or accessing our symposium and walk resources on-line) with a unique, educational, and inspiring opportunity to explore numerous philosophical issues and perspectives related to the environment, ethics & stewardship, ranging from:
- public vs. private land (including individual rights, collective rights, indigenous rights, other)
- landowner/steward-wildlife and habitat relationships (including agricultural and ranching relationships), and
- current & future environmental/conservation challenges
