Happy Spring!! We are excited to announce that our Founder & ED, Marisa Diaz-Waian, has been selected to participate in the NEH Summer Institute “Reviving Philosophy as a Way of Life“ in July of this year at Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT!
Philosophy as a “way of life” is integral to what we do as an organization. Philosophy is not meant to be closed away in some book but, rather, to be lived! To have been selected to participate in the National Endowment for Humanities Summer Institute is such an honor! Thank you so much Professors Angle, Sullivan, and Grimm for this amazing opportunity! I am looking forward to contributing, learning, and applying the teachings to academia and Merlin CCC philosophy in the the community activities — Marisa
What will we be doing? Institute participants will spend half of the workshop studying key texts in Stoicism, Buddhism, Ancient Skepticism and other “way of life’’ traditions in sessions led by expert scholars. The remainder of the workshop will be dedicated to finding effective and innovative ways for helping individuals “try on” such teachings and critically examine the arguments behind these proposals. In addition, participants will build unique syllabus and programs and establish professional relationships aimed at helping to sustain and invigorate this approach to philosophy.
